A Completely Unplayable Experience: Play-Solitaire.com Review
By Martin Petroff
As someone who reviews dozens of online card games, I always try to find the silver lining in every platform. Whether it’s a dated design or a lack of features, most sites at least offer a functional game. Unfortunately, Play-Solitaire.com is the rare exception where I simply cannot find a single positive thing to say. If you are looking for a relaxing session of solitaire, this is the absolute last place you should visit.
Here is my candid breakdown of why this website offers an objectively awful experience.
The Drawbacks: Monetization Gone Wrong
There is a fine line between supporting a free website with ads and completely ruining the user experience. Play-Solitaire.com aggressively crosses that line.
Game-Breaking Ads: The most egregious issue with this website is its ad placement. The advertisements are so intrusive and poorly implemented that they actually cover the playable game board.
Literally Unplayable: Because the ads obstruct the cards and the playing area, the core game is rendered completely unplayable. You cannot drag, drop, or strategize when you cannot even see the board you are supposed to be playing on.
An Awful Experience: Solitaire is meant to be a calming, focused activity. Instead, playing on this site turns into a frustrating, tedious battle against overlapping banners and pop-ups. It is an incredibly aggravating user experience.
The Verdict
Play-Solitaire.com is a prime example of what happens when a platform prioritizes aggressive monetization over basic functionality. The fact that the ads physically cover the game makes it entirely unplayable. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this site entirely. There are countless other platforms—like solitairex.io or thesolitaired.com —that respect their players and offer a vastly superior, ad-friendly experience.
